DÉJÀ VU-DOO ECONOMICS
Mark Otto
3.7.2010 |
14 Months Ago:
“I rise in support of H.R.1, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This package will stimulate our economy, provide relief to struggling individuals and small businesses, and create 3 to 4 million desperately needed jobs across our country.”
“[The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act] will put Americans back to work with strategic investments to create 3 to 4 million jobs.”
“This is a bold package that creates jobs, spurs economic growth, and provides relief to millions of struggling Americans.”
- Congressman Bob Etheridge

“Now is the time for bold steps to create jobs and put our economy back on track. Inaction is not an option,” said Etheridge. “Smart investments will generate jobs right now, and make our economy stronger in the future.”

TODAY:
“My number one priority is putting North Carolinians back to work,” Etheridge said. “The HIRE Act will support more than one million new jobs this year, and encourage more businesses to take that next step to come off the sidelines and add employees.”
“This change is a win-win for North Carolina , making sure our communities are building for the next generation and putting workers on the job now.”

Said Second District GOP Chairman Mark Otto, “To quote Yogi Berra, “It’s Déjà vu all over again.” More rhetoric, bigger government and more deficit spending that will do nothing to create jobs. The reckless policy of this administration and of Mr. Etheridge’s documented voting record is, in Congressman Etheridge’s own words, “A massively irresponsible tax on posterity.””
Congressman Etheridge “scrubbed” his website recently, removing the reference to the “current administration” after Obama became President and the “irresponsible tax on posterity” after voting with Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time in the current congress, including his support for more deficit spending, the failed stimulus, cap and trade, raising the debt ceiling and socialized healthcare legislation.
Since passing the stimulus last January, more than 6 million jobs have been lost, the deficit has doubled, national debt has skyrocketed and North Carolina ’s unemployment rate has increased 37%.
