NASH COUNTY GOP PRESS RELEASE
6.18.2009 |
Press Release
June 17, 2009
** For Immediate Release **
Congratulations to Al Lytton of Nashville are in order for his leadership role in Tom Fetzer’s successful bid to become the Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. Lytton served as the Campaign Coordinator for Fetzer. Fetzer won the party leadership role in a contest among four candidates. He replaces Linda Daves of Mecklenburg County, who served as party chairman since 2006.
As campaign coordinator, Lytton traveled across the state and made numerous phone calls and emails to the delegates to the state convention encouraging them to vote for the former Raleigh mayor. Over 1,600 delegates attended the convention in Raleigh on June 12th and 13th.
The delegates elected Fetzer by acclamation when all other candidates withdrew from the race after it became apparent that Fetzer was on his way to winning on the second ballot. Fetzer led all of the candidates on the first ballot, but did not quite reach the required fifty percent of the votes.
Following Fetzer’s election, Lytton assisted the new chairman in his duties in leading the party’s Executive Committee meeting on Sunday, June 14, 2009.
Lytton is active in local politics having run for public office. He serves on the Nash County Republican Party’s Executive Committee. Lytton was elected in April as the Chairman of the Second District of the North Carolina Republican Party.
